I interviewed Empty Gate Zen's resident abbot Jason Quinn back in August of 2011 to learn more about this Korean Buddhist center planted in Berkeley, CA near one of California's most famous universities, known for its openness to new ideas, both in politics and religion.
Since the original interview last summer, Quinn has now transferred from Empty Gate to the Kwan Um School of Korean Buddhism headquarters in Providence, RI.
Why is it "appropos?"

But two stand out among them, specializing in what has remained in Korea a less dominant sect: Korean Seon (Zen) Buddhism. One of the centers also stands out for its approach to teaching."
Kind of awkward. By the time I've figured out what you're trying to say, it's really not all that interesting. There are 2 Buddhist centers among many in teh Bay area.
Nice to see that you read the article but if you really had the courage of your convictions, you wouldn't hide behind "anonymous" as your moniker.
